Below Stairs

We had some good friends visit us this weekend and thankfully the weather was a little better than it has been. It’s still not properly spring but it’s better.

During the weekend we visited Ickworth House in Suffolk and explored the house as well as the grounds during this visit.

We don’t normally visit the house as I find it very cold and depressing but the National Trust has opened the servant quarters to give a new view of the house.

This is far more interesting than the upper floors of the house and gave us plenty of opportunities to explore. Uniquely you are encouraged to try things, to touch things and to experience them (nothing like stating that the below stairs things are less valuable to the Trust than the art collections upstairs, but there you go).

I took my Olympus EM5 MKII with me and took several shots of the interior and a few of the exterior of the house.

I like this eclectic selection of photos and have to say I enjoyed post producing them with the recent update to Lightroom and my new PC. (I have purchased a PC over a MacBook for the first time in nearly 10 years).

Enjoy the photos:

You can view the photos in more detail in my Olympus EM5 MKII album on Flickr.
