It’s only 4 days until Richard and I head out to NYC for a pre-Christmas trip and I really looking forward to spending a couple of festive days in the Big Apple.
I am looking forward to spending time in this vibrant city and catching up with friends and taking in the sights.
Of course, I plan to capture some shots whilst I am in New York and hope to take some interesting photos of Manhattan and the surrounding area.
I am planning to take one camera with me on this trip and that will again be the Olympus. But this time I am taking the 12-40mm Pro Lens which I am hoping will give me even sharper shots and more opportunity to shoot close up and wide angle photos.
I did think about taking my Leica but want to travel light and as this is a trip at Christmas (and so far from home), I want to ensure I have the best camera, lens etc for the job. The Olympus EM5 MKII is fairly small and light anyway so it’s ideally suited to the trip.
I am also very familiar with the camera and have a selection of filters etc for my lenses, this gives me more opportunity to experiment and capture whatever springs to mind during the break.
This is another favourite from our trip last November, again captured with the 20mm at f/2.2.
I have been trying to find a look I like to align my photographs and think the present I have used on the cab photo and this one is quite contemporary and edgy. They certainly look different from the standard vibrant/natural colours I aim for.
What do you think? Do you like them or are they over processed?
We like to visit Amercian Diners when in the USA and this time we are planning to head out to Massapequa to sample the delights of the Massapequa Diner. It’s off the tourist route but we have wanted to extend our visits outside of Manhattan and this will be a chance to experience a different area and the Long Island Railway.
We found out about it during an episode of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee which featured Alec Baldwin.
Look out for more photos when I return from NYC 🙂
It’s only 11 days until my photograph Beach Lines is exhibited as part of the Holiday Print Swap Exhibition at the Root gallery in Brooklyn, NYC.
Sadly we will be returning to the UK before the exhibition opens (it’s not poor planning, the holiday was booked before I had even submitted my photo to the exhibition), therefore I won’t get to see my photograph on display.
Will you be in NYC on the 13th? Fancy stopping by the exhibition? Why not drop in, take a look at the work on display and share a snap of my work to share with me – I’d really appreciate it 🙂
One final shot from last years trip. This one of Radio City we liked so much, we had it printed and it hangs in the hallway. Again 20mm at f/4.0. More vibrant than the others featured here but the bright purples and yellows are what makes this photo I feel.
*photo of the I ❤ NY bauble is from our Christmas tree! Again shot with the 20mm, ISO 800 at f/1.7
