It’s been quite a start to the new year!
Rotterdam for four days. Back home for a day. Followed by a trip to Paris this weekend. I need another holiday now!
I took the Leica to Rotterdam but didn’t have much opportunity to go out with it as it was very cold (gale force winds one day) and I was in the office late each evening.
I did manage a couple of shots with my Pixel 2 and as I now have it set to shoot RAW and JPEG, it gave me the opportunity for some creative edits.

Saturday Richard and I went to Paris for the day and enjoyed a lovely day in one of our favourite cities.
The weather wasn’t great but as it was off season it was fairly quiet and we even managed to get into Notre Dame without having to queue.
Unfortunately, when we arrived at the airport I closed the car door on my thumb. I managed to crush my nail and split the skin around the joint which meant I was in quite a bit of pain during the day. Most of the time I didn’t let it get to me but there were a few shots I wanted to take but depressing the shutter button with my thumb was painful!
During our day trip, we had a walk around the Marais, avoided the riot police at Hotel de Ville, toured Notre Dame, headed to the Commerce District for Lunch and then took a walk to the architectural surroundings of Parc Andre Citroen (which I don’t think we have visited for nearly 15 years). Then onto the airport and our flight home.
The grey skies made for some moody and gritty shots and this added to the drama, especially around the Parc etc.
I set the Leica to manual focus and an infinite focal distance for street photography. This was a little hit and miss but I ended up with my own homage to Martin Parr courtesy of a couple of tourists:
I love the Leica, I simply have to get used to the speed and handling of it. I will be carrying it more in the new year.
Here’s a selection of my favourite photo’s from this weeks travels.
