Autumnal Frost

A sunrise landscape photo of trees, grasses and purple frosty hues
Taken with my Google Pixel 5

I’ve always admired the ability of the cameras in Pixel phones and the newest, the Pixel 5 is no exception.

The computational ability of the Google phones has always been really good and provide some stunning jpegs.

They also shoot raw files which I am particularly pleased about as it does away with the computational bits and leaves a very capable image with lots of detail.

This is such a raw file which I have post produced to replicate the wonderful light of Friday morning, with the mist coming off the river and the frost on the vegetation.

I did take my Leica Mini with me but won’t get to see those until they come back from the developer. It’ll be interesting to compare the film capture of the scene with this.

I do love this photo (and a couple others) from the morning stroll around the meadow.

My timing and the conditions were perfect and I am so proud to have taken this photo.

As well as the colourful dawn sky and the crispness of the grasses, I really love that I captured the purple hue that was blanketing the landscape.

I’m considering having this one printed.

What do you think? Do you like this shot? Have you managed to take any particularly favourite shots with your smartphone?
