People and Places: Subway, New York

Travel of any sorts is not possible and certainly not what it was.

As this is the case, I have decided to look back at the places I have been fortunate enough to visit and the people I have encountered along the way.

I have picked this collection of photos from various times and situations, some through travel to foreign countries, others in this country or whilst out and about (something else that is unfamiliar at present).

The daily commute to London or a shopping trip to Colchester, feel as alien and out of reach as a trip to New York!

I wanted these photos to be reminiscent of old holiday snaps, as if captured with film cameras and have therefore edited each one to replicate this.

A photo taken on the subway in New York featuring a carriage full of people

This is an old shot from the New York subway. Taken with an old smartphone (possibly and iPhone 5) and not terribly in focus! That does not matter to me as I think this is a great account of life in Manhattan, people going about their lives, minding their own business.

I have post produced this to replicate Kodak Ektachrome 100.

I’d be interested to hear your opinion of such photos and whether I have achieved what I set out to do.
